STUDENT EXCHANGE 19.03.2025-27.03.2025
(ITALIAN PHASE)
ASSIGNMENT for this phase:
• BOTH GROUPS (ITALIAN AND FINNISH) WILL PRODUCE AT LEAST 5 VIDEOS OF FAILED COMMUNICATION
• EACH VIDEO MUST CONTAIN AT LEAST 3 ASPECTS OF FAILED COMMUNICATION – EITHER LINGUISTIC, CULTURAL OR BEHAVIORAL
Timetable:
WED 19.03. Arrival at Vanoni School at around 19.30. Italian teachers, students and their families welcome their guests.
THU 20.03. Finnish students follow their hosts to school and to the classroom we will be given to host the two groups of students and have lesson from 08:00 to 10:00 following the normal timetable. From 10:00 to 12:00 teachers Soile and Timo will have a meeting with students. From 12:00 to 14:00 they will work in the classroom on the project. There will be two breaks during the school days: from 09:50 to 10:00 and from 11:50 to 12:15.
Italian and Finnish students will have lunch together during the second break time. Students will leave school at 14:00 and get home. Free afternoon with their Italian friends.
FRI 21.03. Finnish students follow their hosts to school and have lesson following the normal timetable similarly to Thursday 20.03 with a three hours’ work session dedicated to the project from 11:00 to 14:00 (packed lunch from 11:50 to 12:15 prepared by Italian families or bought at school). After lunch, teachers and students will meet again in the classroom to get prepared for a trip to Monza.
1) We will catch the bus service at 14:30 just a few steps away from school. At 15:00 we will arrive to Monza and our tourist guide will meet us just in front of Monza Duomo to start the guided tour;
2) 15:30-17:30: visit of the Cathedral inside including Teodolida Chapel and the Iron Crown – tour of the medieval city centre; the entire group will be split up into two halves before the beginning of the tour inside the Cathedral;
3) Free moment for students and teachers to walk around Monza shopping streets or have something to drink in a cafè.
4) Return to Vimercate Vanoni School by bus at 18:30/18:45 and arrival nearby the school main entrance at 19:00/19:15. Students get home to families.
Sat 22.3. Free program. The Italian teachers and Finnish ones go to Grazzano Visconti a little medieval village 45 minutes away from Vimercate and have lunch together in a farmhouse nearby. Finnish students enjoy a free program with their Italian friends and their families enjoying the beautiful places nearby (Vimercate, Milan, Lecco, Bergamo, Verona,Venice) or going on a trip to other destinations.
Sun 23.3. Free program. The Italian teachers will be available for the Finnish teachers, if needed. Finnish students spend time together with their Italian friends and with their host families likewise the previous day. They can also make plans for Monday’s work session on the project.
Mon 24.3. Finnish students follow their hosts to school and have lesson following the normal timetable with a three hours’ work session dedicated to the project from 11:00 to 14:00. After lunch, teachers and students will meet again in the classroom. Students will leave school at 14:00 and get home. Free afternoon with their Italian friends. Teachers can get together for a briefing and they can also make plans to carry out the project of videos on successful communication in Finland creating new groups if necessary;
Tue 25.3. Trip to Milan (whole day).
1) We all meet at 07:15 outside the school parking area to catch the private bus. We will be at Milan Duomo Square at around 09:00.
2) 10:00 -11:30: Visit the Scala Opera House

3)11:30 – 13:30: Students and teachers are free to have lunch in one of the numerous pizza restaurants or fast food in Milan city centre. Some free time strolling around shopping streets;
4)13:30 – 16:00: The whole group move to Science and Technology Museum to visit it and take part in a workshop;
5) 16:30: We all catch the private bus to go back to Vimercate – Vanoni School; Arrival at 18:00/18:30. Students get home to families.
Wed 26.3. Finnish students follow their hosts to school and have lesson following the normal timetable. After that, a three hours’ work session dedicated to the project from 11:00 to 14:00
After lunch, teachers and students will meet again in the classroom. Students will leave school at 14:00 and get home. Free afternoon with their Italian friends and packing of bags and lugguge for the return to Turku. At 19:30 all teachers and students have dinner in a Pizzeria in Vimercate to spend an enjoyable evening together before the departure;
Thu 27.3 Breakfast with the families. Departure from Vimercate (Vanoni school) at 07.30 where the transfer bus will be waiting for the Finnish group to take them to Malpensa Airport. Warm farewells and see you soon in TURKU.
