Content and Language Integrated Learning
Content and Language Integrated Learning refers to a method of language teaching in which pupils learn in a foreign language. The method involves teaching in the pupils’ mother tongue and in a foreign language, both of which form an integrated whole.
Teachers use the language that best suits a particular purpose and situation. All subjects can be taught using the CLIL Method except the mother tongue, i.e. Finnish. Language is therefore not the target of learning, but a tool to use in studying. Formal language teaching is also given during language lessons.
